BRENHAM MAIFEST RECEIVING RECOGNITION IN TEXAS CO-OP MAGAZINE
A longtime Brenham tradition, the Maifest parade is receiving recognition along with other parades in the March 2016 edition of Texas Co-op Power Magazine featuring Bluebonnet News.
Texas Co-op Magazine highlighted Tandra and Bubba Damon as they have been taking in the Luling Watermelon Thump Queen for more than 20 years. The article goes into their lives of hosting the queen and traveling around with the Watermelon Thump parade float. The Damon’s explain that going to other small town parades is how you get others to come to your parade. The Thump queen is obligated to travel to other parades in order to earn a $1,250 scholarship.
Photos of the Brenham Maifest parade dating back to 1929 are featured in the article. The article also features dates for future Bluebonnet region parades. The Cotton Gin Festival Parade in Burton is set for April 16th. The Brenham Maifest Parade will be held on May 7th. The Lee County Fair Parade is May 21st in Giddings and Round Top will host their July 4th Parade.
