WASHINGTON CO. APPRAISAL DISTRICT BOARD SCHEDULES PUBLIC HEARING ON REAPPRAISAL PLAN
The Washington County Appraisal District Board of Directors on Tuesday set a date for a public hearing on the appraisal district’s 2027-28 reappraisal plan.
The public hearing will be held on Friday, August 28th at 10 a.m. in the appraisal district boardroom.
The board is required through property tax code to biennially develop a plan for the periodic reappraisal of all property in the appraisal district’s boundaries by September 15th of each even-numbered year.
Certain activities are required when reappraising real and personal property at least once every three years. Those include defining market areas, identifying and updating property characteristics affecting value in those market areas, applying conclusions from an appraisal model to individual properties, and reviewing appraisal results to determine value.
Also on Tuesday, the board approved a change to the appraisal district’s method of financing, shifting from invoicing budget allocations monthly to quarterly. The quarterly allocations will begin on September 1st.
Additionally, the board approved a budget transfer of $2,250 and an audit engagement letter with Seidel Schroeder for the 2025-26 audit. It also presented 5-year employment plaques to three staff members: Rachel Flores, William McWhorter and Katie Mitchamore.
