PRAIRIE VIEW OFFICER CLAIMS THREAT OVER SANDRA BLAND CASE

A Prairie View Police officer claims Waller County's top prosecutors threatened to end his career if he came forward with what he says is evidence of wrongdoing in the Sandra Bland case.

Officer Michael Kelley tells the Associated Press, trooper Brian Encinia was on the phone with a supervisor last July after arresting Sandra Bland because he didn't know what charge she should face.

Encinia was indicted for perjury, but Kelley says he and others should have faced more charges.

Prosecutors strongly deny Kelly’s allegations, made earlier this week.

Prosecutors say Kelley is only coming forward to distract from his own indictment in a separate use-of-force case.
