BRENHAM FD RESPONDS TO SMOKING CLOTHES DRYER, ALARMS

The Brenham Fire Department was called out three times on Tuesday.

Around 1:45 p.m., firefighters responded to a home in the 1600 block of South Jackson Street for a smoke alarm sounding.  They found bad batteries and replaced them before returning to service.

A fire alarm was called in just before 2:15 p.m. at Domino’s, 401 Highway 290 West.  No signs of smoke or fire were found, so the alarm was reset.

Just after 5:30 p.m., units were dispatched to a home in the 800 block of Geney Street for a report of a structure fire.  Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building.  The fire department found that a clothes dryer was causing smoke.  BFD members used a battery power fan to remove smoke from inside the home and unplugged the dryer.
