BLUEBONNET WEARS PINK FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS
Washington County residents and members of surrounding communities will be seeing pink this month thanks to Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative’s campaign for breast cancer awareness.
For the fifth consecutive year, Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative is adding pink to its buildings, vehicles, hard hats and clothing during October to celebrate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Since 2012, Bluebonnet has used pink lights to illuminate its member service centers, added pink magnetic ribbons to its trucks, handed out pink ribbon pins in the communities it serves, replaced its familiar blue-and-white hard hats with pink ones, and donned pink t-shirts to remind people of the ongoing effort to raise funds to support prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
Matt Bentke, Bluebonnet’s General Manager, says that nearly everyone knows someone who has been affected by breast cancer, including a few members of the Bluebonnet family. Bentke says that Bluebonnet employees have embraced this cause and that he is proud of their annual effort to help raise awareness of this disease.
There are many resources available to learn more about breast cancer. For more information, visit the National Cancer Institute’s website at cancer.gov, the American Cancer Society at cancer.org, or the Susan G. Komen Foundation at komen.org.
