BOARD RULES ONE YEAR SUSPENSION FOR FORMER BRENHAM VET

The Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners have suspended the license of a former Brenham veterinarian for one year.

The board ruled this (Tuesday) morning that Kristen Lindsey can't practice for a year. Her suspension will be followed by four years' probation.

Back in April of 2015, Lindsey used a bow and arrow to kill a cat that had wandered onto her property and boasted of the kill online.

Her lawyer, Brian Bishop, told the board she believed the cat was feral and that it isn't unusual for people near her rural home to dispose of feral animals.

Bishop says she shouldn't have posted an image to Facebook, but that she didn't act with "criminal recklessness."

Lindsey has 20 days to request a rehearing.

  1. She made the decision to post the picture on facebook, it got her in hot water, now she pays the price! Not a harsh decision,in my opinion. I don’t feel sorry for her a bit! Maybe this will give her time to think next time before she makes a decision to post something.

    1. I agree it was not the smartest thing to post the picture. But posting a pic on facebook of a legally killed animal is not enough to take away the livelihood of anyone. The picture, as vulgar as it may be, is guaranteed to be protected by the 1st amendment of the Constitution and no government oversight committee can break that, ever.

It is up to the free thinking people of the country to decide whether they want her to treat their animals or not.

  2. Too much government oversight is the only crime committed here. What makes this government agency believe they know more than the Grand Jury that no billed this case?

  3. A ridiculously harsh sentence. Think of all the animals she could be helping in a year’s time. Not to mention a major disruption in her life for this talented individual, all because of a dead feral cat and one stupid decision.

  4. Who pays court cost each time for this girl?
I’ll send some money if she’s paying the bill.
That being said you get what you deserve for posting any pictures on Facebook. No one needs to know all your business, I bet she knows now. As far as the feral cat, I eliminate one or two a week, all that come on to my property, I like my wild birds to be safe from them at the feeder.
