The Austin County Republican Party is inviting the public to their second annual Sharing Christmas Food Drive Saturday, from 10 am to 4pm.

Their tables will be set up at Brookshire Brothers in Bellville, Lindemann’s Store in Industry, Walmart and Bill’s Country Market in Sealy and Dollar General in Wallis.

Donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted. Boy Scouts and other local service organizations will be on hand to help collect donations and accept any cash donations for local food banks.

Each store has donated a gift certificates for a shopping spree to a lucky donor whose name is drawn at 4:00 pm at each location.

Officials say the response from the community last year was overwhelming with several large boxes of food and staples donated at each store which were delivered to the local food pantry. Over $2,900 was donated last year to the Boy Scouts for local food pantries.
