PERCUSSION CONCERT SATURDAY AT FESTIVAL HILL

Percussion music lovers will want to visit the Round Top Festival Institute next weekend.

The Festival Hill Concert Hall will welcome Thomas Burritt, one of the finest marimbists in the country, on Saturday, January 13th.  Burritt will mesmerize the audience on solo marimba before he is joined by world renowned pianist James Dick.  Percussion students from the University of Texas Butler School of Music will accompany Burritt to perform Michael Burritt’s “Blue Flame Quintet for Marimba and Percussion Quartet”.

Burritt is Professor of Percussion and Director of Percussion Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.  He has served as percussion faculty at Round Top Festival Institute each summer since 2004.

Tickets for the 3 p.m. performance on January 13th are $25 for adults and $10 for students for general seating.  There is also a reservation only buffet-style lunch offered at 12:45 p.m. that Saturday in the Menke House Dining Hall.  For reservations and more information, visit www.festivalhill.org.
