LENGTHY AGENDA FOR CITY COUNCIL MEETING THURSDAY
Brenham City Council will have a lengthy agenda, including a work session, a public hearing, a regular session, and an Executive session Thursday. City Secretary Jeana Bellinger said they were working on it right up to the 72 hour posting deadline today (Monday).
Council will view and discuss the City’s Thoroughfare Plan during the work session. They will also discuss payments from FEMA for Storm Disaster Recovery.
During the public hearing, councilmembers will discuss a zoning change for the Oak Alley Subdivision. The proposed change will shorten some of the setbacks in the subdivision. Council will also discuss the changing the required signage requirements for a zoning change and look at changing the membership requirements for the Planning and Zoning Commission the Board of Adjustment.
In the regular session, council will consider approving the 2017 Use of Force and Pursuit reports from the Brenham Police Department.
They are also expected to approve a grant from the Office of the Governor for Rifle-Resistant Body Armor for the Police Department. They will also discuss a resolution in opposition to the Bureau of Land Management’s decision to lease the land under Somerville Lake for oil and gas production.
In Executive session, councilmembers will discuss the termination of the contract with GCP Contractors. GCP was awarded the bid to construct new bathroom facilities at Firemen’s Park in July of last year. They were expected to complete the project in December. So far, only the foundation and sidewalks have been completed. Council began the termination process after their January 18th meeting by notifying GCP and their surety company of the intent of canceling the contract due to the lack of construction progress.
Brenham City Council meets Thursday at 1:00 PM on the second floor of City Hall.
