P&Z COMMISSION TO CONSIDER CHANGE TO NEIGHBORHOOD BUSINESS DISTRICT
Brenham’s Planning and Zoning Commission will again consider adding fitness facilities to the list of allowed business in the new Neighborhood Business District just south of Downtown. Presley Walcik, the owner of property at 107 West First Street is requesting a zoning change to allow a fitness facility on that property. Andy Adams of Washington County Athletics is leasing the building from Walcik. The Public Hearing on the issue was held during the January meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission, but action on the item was tabled until the February meeting. Neighbors in the area have complained about patrons of the already operating fitness facility parking along the street. City Council approved the Neighborhood Business District in July of last year and eliminated any parking requirements for businesses in the District. Allowing fitness facilities in the district is recommended by city staff.
Also on Monday’s agenda, the Commission will consider 2 plat approvals. The final plat for the Oak Alley Subdivision off of Mustang Road will be considered along with the preliminary plat for the new Grinder Subdivision at 3477 Old Chappell Hill Road inside the city’s ETJ will be considered.
The Planning and Zoning Commission meets Monday at 5:15 PM on the second floor of City Hall.
