TWO BURTON SENIORS TO SPEAK AT AMERICAN LEGION AND AUXILIARY MEETINGS

Two Burton High School seniors will be guest speakers at tomorrow’s (Wednesday) Burton American Legion and Auxiliary meetings.
Caleb Harmel and Sidney Smith will share their experiences from the 2018 American Legion Boys State, held at the University of Texas in Austin in June, and the Bluebonnet Girls State at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin.
Caleb, son of Rachel and Jeff Harmel, served as a senator for the National Party at Boys State. He is the current president of Burton FFA, and has been involved in dairy judging for three years. He’ll also return as the starting quarterback for the Burton High School Panthers, when practices begin next week.

Sidney, daughter of Terri and Keith Smith, served as County Sheriff as part of Girls State activities. She is involved with the Burton High School Beta Club and journalism, as well as girls’ volleyball.
The public is invited to attend tomorrow’s meetings, at the Burton Community Center, starting at 7:30 p.m. For more information, contact Mary Jane Zorn, of Burton American Legion 242, at 979-421-2716.
