NAVASOTA PD PUTTING ON ‘NO RAZORS NOVEMBER’ FOR CANCER AWARENESS

Throughout November, the Navasota Police Department is putting on “No Razors November”.

The Navasota PD, along with the Fire Department and City staff, will be able to donate $40 to participate in growing out their facial hair, to raise awareness for cancer patients that lose their hair to chemotherapy.

The idea is that no razors will be used all month, and the money usually used to shave and groom goes toward the cause.  The PD has a policy in place for those participating.

Navasota PD created this campaign to not only raise awareness for cancer, but to give back to someone in the community who has been personally affected by cancer. Justin Homeyer was diagnosed with testicular cancer in January 2018.  As a self-employed farrier, he was not able to work during chemotherapy due to risk of infection.

Justin is currently in remission, but although he is cancer free right now, cancer tumor markers are done every two months and CT scans are needed twice a year.  Doctor appointments are not covered even with medical insurance.

If anyone would like to donate and participate, a donation box will be in the Records Division at the Navasota PD.  The PD will present the cash to Homeyer in the City Council Chambers on November 30th. The exact time will be announced at a later date.
