SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR ALL LOCAL ENTITIES IN NOVEMBER

  

Washington County, along with Brenham and Burton, experienced increases in state sales and use tax distributions this month.

Washington County’s rebate in November was $278,179, about 13.5 percent more than last November’s refund of $244,948.  So far this year, the county has received $2,736,518, up 10 percent from last year’s $2,485,162.

In November, Brenham received $578,588, about 3.5 percent more than last year’s refund of $559,072.  Through this year, the city has received $5,951,428, just 0.23 percent more than 2017’s payment to date, of $5,937,374.

Burton’s rebate for November was $9,416.  This is a 26 percent bump over Burton’s November 2017 total of $7,468.  Through this year, Burton has received $70,095, up 4 percent from last year’s $67,163.

According to Comptroller Glenn Hegar, the state reported local sales tax allocations at $817 million.  This is a 5.4 percent increase over last November, and 8.7 percent more for the year so far.
