BRENHAM ISD OFFICIALS, POLICE DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATING SOCIAL MEDIA THREAT

A Brenham High School student is facing discipline after reportedly making a threatening message on social media.

According to Brenham ISD officials, the district recently sent a message to parents, saying high school administrators were alerted Thursday afternoon to a potentially threatening message on social media.  In cooperation with local law enforcement, the school’s administrative team performed investigation this (Friday) morning.

Brenham Police Sergeant Kelvin Raven said police began investigation last night, and are still performing follow-ups.  According to Sgt. Raven, the threats were “not accurate”, and at this time there is no threat to anyone at the high school.

Communications Director Jessica Johnston said the campus and administration have handled the issue, and the student will be disciplined in accordance with student code of conduct.

Johnston said the student was not detained.  The school would not release the nature of the statement made on social media, and said no further information was available at this time.
