BRENHAM FIRE DEPARTMENT HAS BUSY TUESDAY AFTERNOON

The Brenham Fire Department helped extinguished a grass fire, Tuesday afternoon.

Just after 2:00 p.m., firefighters were called out to Rock Pit Lane in Gay Hill, where they found about five acres of grass and some round bales of hay on fire.

The Gay Hill and Brenham departments extinguished the fire.

The Brenham Department was then called out just after 4:30 to the Burger King on North Park Street, where a woman was trapped in the restroom.

The department used hand tools to spread the door around from the jam and a saw all to cut the dead bolt and free the woman.

Just minutes later, the department was called to the Blinn College housing complex in the 1100 block of Old Mill Creek Road, to students stuck in an elevator.

Department members used a ladder to remove the students from the elevator.  Blinn officials were advised to have the elevators checked out before using them again.
