RECORD STUDENT REGISTRATION FOR BLINN WINTER MINIMESTER
First-day-of-class figure represents a 10.7 percent increase over last year
A record 2,171 Blinn College District students are pursuing college credit this holiday season through Blinn’s Winter Minimester.
The enrollment marks a 10.7 percent increase over last year’s first-day-of-class figures and the highest Winter Minimester enrollment in College District history.
The Winter Minimester allows students to take courses for college credit during the break between the Fall and Spring semesters. Blinn’s minimester courses are offered online, allowing students to earn college credit from home or while traveling.
Blinn students will total 104,736 contact hours for the minimester. Contact hours, the hours of scheduled instruction provided to students, are used by the state to determine state funding.
Blinn’s record minimester enrollment comes on the heels of record Fall semester enrollment, when 19,581 students registered at Blinn.
Registration for Blinn’s Spring semester is available through Sunday, Jan. 13. College officials encourage early registration for convenient scheduling and placement in high-demand courses. Blinn’s Spring semester courses are available online and on the Brenham, Bryan, RELLIS, Schulenburg, and Sealy campuses.
Blinn’s Central Administrative Services Building, located at 3125 S. Texas Avenue at the Tejas Center, and the Administration Building on the Blinn-Brenham Campus, located at 802 Green Street in Brenham, will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, to offer enrollment services, academic advising, financial aid, and admissions assistance. Offices will re-open for regular hours on Thursday, Jan. 3.

According to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s CollegeForAllTexans.com, out-of-district Blinn students who enroll in 30 credit hours during the 2018-19 academic year save 42 percent in tuition and fees compared to the average tuition and fees at Texas public universities. In addition to Blinn’s low tuition and fees, the Blinn Foundation offers more than 200 endowed scholarships available to incoming and returning students from a wide range of backgrounds, majors, and experiences.
Blinn is home to pioneering co-enrollment programs such as the Texas A&M-Blinn TEAM Program and the Texas A&M Engineering Academies at Blinn, and its academic transfer rate ranks second in the state.
Through the RELLIS Academic Alliance, students have the opportunity to complete their foundational coursework at the Schwartz Building and seamlessly transfer to several Texas A&M University System regional universities, including Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Prairie View A&M University, Tarleton State University, West Texas A&M University, Texas A&M University-Texarkana, Texas A&M University-Kingsville and Texas A&M University-Central Texas, also located onsite.
