The city says it has received numerous complaints over the past few months about vultures around South Chappell Hill Street, Pecan Street and Kerr Street.  Over 200 vultures have been noticed in the area, causing property damage and generally being a nuisance.

This week, through September 12th, the city and the Texas Wildlife Services Program will perform harassment techniques to break up the flock of vultures and get them to move out of the area.  The harassment activities will include the usage of pyrotechnics like “screamers” and “bangs”, which are harmless to the general public and are commonly used in pest control to annoy the vultures and make them uncomfortable.

Brenham Animal Control Services will perform the activities in the early morning and evening.  The screamers and bangs may be heard from several blocks away.

Anyone with questions or concerns can contact Animal Services Manager Megan Gray at 979-337-7391 or Administrative Services Director Jeana Bellinger at 979-337-7567.
