A longtime Blinn board member will not be seeking re-election this spring.
Atwood Kenjura, who has been on the board for 43 years, made the announcement at Tuesday’s board meeting. During his tenure on the board, Kenjura has served seven terms as Board Chair, four as Vice-Chair, and two as Board Secretary.
Kenjura said that, although 43 years has been a “plenty long” time, it doesn’t feel like it’s been that long.
Kenjura said, during his time on the board, one of the most influential moments for the school was the building of the new campus in Bryan-College Station.
Kenjura said he feels confident about the direction the school is headed.
A lifelong resident of Brenham and a 1965 graduate of Blinn, Kenjura is the pharmacist and owner of Kenjura Pharmacy in downtown Brenham. He has served in leadership roles in numerous organizations, including Board Director for the Brenham Rotary Club, Washington County Chamber of Commerce, and Brenham Booster Club.
Kenjura was named to the Blinn College Alumni and Friends Hall of Honor in 1998. In addition, he was named Man of the Year by the Washington County Chamber in 2011.
