DOROTHY MORGAN OFFICIALLY FILES TO RUN FOR BRENHAM MAYOR
Dorothy Morgan is officially in the running for Brenham mayor this spring.
The former Brenham Mayor and Washington County Judge filed Friday for a place on the ballot for May’s election. Morgan previously served as the mayor of Brenham for over four terms, and for most of the 1980’s. She was a government teacher in Brenham ISD before running for mayor in 1982.
Recently, Morgan has been very active at city functions, attending multiple council sessions and the town hall meeting to discuss the city’s comprehensive plan.
Morgan also served five terms as Washington County Judge, beginning in the early 1990’s. She decided not to run for re-election in 2010.
This comes after the announcement of current Mayor Milton Tate that he would seek re-election in May. Tate has served four full terms since he was elected in a special election in 2003.
Morgan says she will talk about her decision further in an official announcement, which she is planning to release on Tuesday.
The last day to file for a spot on the ballot for May’s election is February 15th. Early voting begins April 22nd, and the election gets underway May 4th.
