The S.O.S Cookers competed with 251 barbecue teams across the state and the world for three days, vying for championship titles in Brisket, Ribs, Chicken, Go Texan, and Dutch Oven Dessert.
The team earned its place in the competition after winning the Overall Champion of 2018’s Washington County Go Texan Cook-Off.
Although the S.O.S. Cookers didn’t win, it served Washington County hospitality, along with some really good food and drinks. The team will represent Washington County again at next year’s competition.
The team named Overall Grand Champion Team was Operation BBQ Relief, a nonprofit organization devoted to feeding communities affected by natural disasters.
Hill County Go Texan took home Reserve Grand Champion. Champion Brisket went to Circle D-A Cookers, Ribs to the Gulfstream team, Chicken to Metro Go Texan 2 - Cypress Boys, and Dutch Oven Dessert to Tejas Barbacoa.
