STATE APPROVES FUNDS FOR LOCAL AIRPORT IMPROVEMENTS
The Brenham Municipal Airport has been approved for state funding.
Approximately $500,000 for the local airport was approved by the Texas Transportation Commission at its February meeting.
The funds will be used for planned airport improvements, which includes, design and construction of pavement improvements.
According to the state, a project consultant will be selected this spring.
The project costs will be funded through the city of Brenham and TxDOT’s Aviation Facilities Grant Program, which preserves and improves the state’s general aviation system.
TxDOT officials say they expect to provide approximately $60 million in funding this year, for planning, constructing and maintaining community airports.
