AUSTIN CO. COMMISSIONERS MOVE FORWARD WITH NEW EMS STATION

Austin County Commissioners are continuing their plans for a new emergency medical services station.

Commissioners signed off at a recent meeting on an agreement, which calls for payment of $195,000 to the Austin County Emergency Services District.  The purchase includes over $137,000 for design, $49,000 for construction administration, and nearly $8,000 for bidding.

The facility will be built in Sealy by Burns Architecture LLC, at Highway 90 and Atchison Street.  A memo issued by the architect states their scope of work will cover the design, bidding, and construction administration phases.  Work will also include the architecture, civil engineering, plumbing design, and fire protection engineering.

The county had previously negotiated with Sealy city officials for a building on Rexville Road.  That land, between the fire station and police department, was appraised at $145,000.  While it was never made certain why those negotiations were called off, concerns had been raised regarding drainage and possible flooding.
