BRENHAM F.D. CALLED OUT TO ROLLOVER ACCIDENT, BURNING PIZZA OVEN

  

The Brenham Fire Department responded Friday to a pair of calls, one involving a one-vehicle rollover and the other a burning pizza oven.

Friday afternoon, just before 5 p.m., firefighters were called to the area near the 11600 block of Highway 290 East, for a report of a transportation incident.  Units arrived to find a person trapped in an overturned truck.

Rescue tools were used to stabilize the truck and open the door.  The driver was removed and examined by EMS personnel.  The driver suffered minor injuries, but refused medical transport and was not taken to the hospital.

Earlier Friday, around 10:15 a.m., the department responded to the Papa John’s Pizza on Highway 290, to a report of a structure fire.  Upon their arrival, units found the pizza oven was on fire.

Firefighters used a dry chemical fire extinguisher to snuff the fire.  The restaurant suffered only minor damage, with most of the damage done to the oven.  None of the neighboring businesses suffered any smoke or fire damage.
