This is the third consecutive year that Brenham High School will be one of the 16 schools at Saturday’s competition.

The 32 students representing Brenham will compete in the categories of armed regulation, unarmed regulation, armed exhibition, unarmed exhibition, color guard and inspection.

Brenham qualified by taking first place at region drill meet, where they beat out competitors from seven states.

The cadets also finished first in four other drill meets they attended in Texas and Louisiana earlier in the school year.

Brenham placed fifth overall last year and third overall at nationals two years ago.

The cadets are flying to Washington D.C. today, prior to Saturday’s all-day competition, which will include the opening ceremony presentation of colors by the U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard and a performance by the U.S. Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon.

Sunday, students will tour the Capitol.
