WASHINGTON CO. TAX APPRAISALS GOING OUT

Tax Appraisal notices in Washington County have begun going out.

Chief Appraiser Willy Dilworth said just over 23,000 notices were mailed out this (Friday) morning, and people should see them within the next few days.

Dilworth said the average homestead in Brenham this year jumped roughly 8 percent in value.

According to Dilworth, mineral values have significantly boosted land values in the west part of Washington County.

The deadline to file protest on an appraisal is May 31st.  The Washington County Appraisal District Office is located in Brenham on 1301 Niebuhr Street.

  1. Government is pushing people toward rebellion…might be violent. Our taxes are used to provide programs to people who contribute nothing so those people will vote for the government officials so they can maintain their power and make themselves and their cronies richer and more powerful.

  2. Don’t worry folks! Your tax rates aren’t increasing, but we’ll make sure property values do! Our land value stayed in the $3,000-5,000 increase/year range, but our improvements went from that similar range to an almost $20,000 increase without any real improvements on the property. That was more along a 9.5-10% increase. Makes the rent vs. own argument really tasty!

  3. They are crazy if they think my average three bedroom two bath home jumped in value 8%. This is just another way to milk us for money without actually calling it a tax increase. I have watched home sales in my neighborhood all year long and have noticed stable real estate prices, not some huge 8% increase. Something needs to be done to rein in the ridiculous spending at Brenham ISD and the City of Brenham. Normal people don’t get 8% raises, why should our taxing entities?

    1. That is so true Government tyrants are robbers, hypocrites, dictators. Washington County has the greatest tax base ever in history. We should be getting lower taxes with the increase of the value of improvements. Big government continues spend out of control. It is not their money and government no longer has a conscience. They spend money on worthless projects. It is criminal.
