LOCAL RODEO ATHLETE TO COMPETE FOR NATIONAL TITLE

Brenham High School graduate Kysan Buckner is set to compete later this month in the 27th annual International Finals Youth Rodeo.

The event is set for July 7-12 at the Heart of Oklahoma Exposition Center in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Buckner, who graduated from Brenham High School this past May, is participating in the world’s richest youth rodeo.

Buckner will be competing in barrel racing and pole bending.

All contestants compete once in each of the two long go-rounds. The top 15 averages in each event will compete in the short go finals on Friday, July 12.

The event includes hundreds of contestants vying for more than $250,000 in prize money, as well as championship saddles and belt buckles.
