BRENHAM, SALEM FIRE DEPARTMENTS BATTLE GRASS BLAZE

  

The Brenham and Salem Fire Departments were called on to extinguish a grass fire, Thursday afternoon.

Just before 4:30, the departments were called out to the 2600 block of Randle Hill Road.

At the scene they found approximately 10 acres on fire and spreading quickly.

The Brenham Department attacked the head of the fire until other units could arrive.

The firefighters also used the Brenham Department’s ATV to help extinguished the blaze.

According to authorities, the fire was originally a controlled burn in two different areas that got out of control.

In all, about 22 acres of land was damaged by the blaze.
