BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD TO MEET THURSDAY FOR BUDGET, TAX RATE DISCUSSION

The Brenham School Board will meet Thursday to continue budget discussion for the new school year.

The board will hold workshop session on the proposed budget.  In addition, it will set the proposed tax rate for the new year, and set a date and time for a public meeting for comment on the proposed budget and tax rate.

At the board’s last meeting, it approved an employee pay increase that exceeded the requirements set forth by state legislature.  The district received $1.1 million in state funding for pay increases, but it allocated an additional $700,000 in local funds for increases.

Also on the agenda, the board will consider band instrument bids and the purchase of instructional materials.  It will then adjourn into executive session to discuss personnel matters.

Trustees will meet Thursday at noon in the Brenham ISD Administration Office, at 711 East Mansfield Street.

  1. If the tax payers are lucky we will get a three thousands of one percent tax break like the citizens of Brenham got from city council. I’m just glad that the school dist can’t create new street usage fees.
