FEMA FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR WASHINGTON, AREA COUNTIES

  

Several counties in the Brazos Valley, including Washington County, have been awarded federal emergency funds.

Over $40,000 are available through the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency, under the State Set Aside process of the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.

Washington County is eligible to receive $20,000 in emergency funding.  $8,075 is available for Robertson County, and $6,000 for Burleson and Madison Counties.

Any organization working to cover a broad portion of the residents in these counties in the areas of emergency food, shelter and utility needs is encouraged to apply.

More information and applications are available online at www.uwbv.org.  Applications are due to United Way of the Brazos Valley by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 4th.

A meeting of the local FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter Board will be held Friday, October 11th at 1 p.m., at the United Way of the Brazos Valley office in Bryan, at 1716 Briarcrest Drive, Suite 155.   Applicants are encouraged to be present at the meeting to present their applications.
