ARTS AND APPETIZERS EVENT RAISES NEARLY $50,000 FOR BISD EDUCATION FOUNDATION

Students had a chance to show off their artwork and raise money for a good cause at Brenham ISD’s Education Foundation’s Arts and Appetizers event Thursday night in the Ballroom at Ant Street Inn.  The live auction this year featured the framed artwork from 16 Brenham ISD students along with numerous donated items. Autographed team jerseys donated by Courtland Sutton and Austin Schlottmann of the Denver Broncos were auctioned for $1700 to Appel Ford.   The highest student painting of the live auction again was painted by Jill Rosenbaum and was sold to Kelm Angus Farm for $1800.  Rosenbaum also created last year’s highest bid painting.  Many other items were auctioned off in a silent auction and a raffle was also held.

All proceeds from the event go to Brenham ISD art students and programs, as well as Brenham public schools.  High school and Jr. High students get to keep half of what their artwork sold for.  Preliminary totals from the BISD Education Foundation reflect a total of $49,761 raised during the event, an increase of $18,380 over last year’s total of $31,381.  This year, $30,285 was brought in through the live and silent auctions, $6,920 was raised by the raffle tickets, and $12,556 was donated to the Foundation through donations and sponsorships.  The Brenham ISD Education Foundation uses the funds raised at the event for mini-grants that are awarded to teachers in the district for items to use in their classrooms.

Crowd fills the ballroom at the Ant Street Inn during the live auction.

Sponsors for the event included: Ant Street Inn, Appel Ford, ACU of Texas, BBVA, Brannon Industrial Group, Bluebonnet Electric, Brenham National Bank, Combined Benefits Group, Crain Group, Design II, E3, Edgenuity, Kwik Kopy, Linebarger, LTY Engineers, Mattrezzz Guys, Mike Hopkins Distributing, Plan North, Joel & Denise Romo, Seidel Schroeder, Solutions in Sound, Texas Small Business Solutions and Van Dyke Rankin Insurance.  Anyone wishing to contribute to the BISD Education Foundation can mail their gift to 2211 South Day Street #330, Brenham, Texas 77833.

  1. Thank you to the entire Brenham/Washington County Community for your continued support of our school district. Your generous support of BISD is a huge part of what makes this community the envy of so many communities in our great state, and so special to each of us. Our students and teachers will continue to pursue academic and artistic excellence due to your generosity, but most importantly, they will always know that this community still strongly believes in our core American values of faith, family, education, community, and patriotism. We are blessed to be a blessing to others and you have proven this time, and time again. Thank you!
