The City of Brenham’s two newest public officials formally introduced themselves to the public for the first time Thursday.

Dozens gathered inside the ice cream parlor at Blue Bell Creameries to get to know the city’s new police chief, Ron Parker, and the new Assistant City Manager of Public Services and Utilities, Donald Reese.

Parker, who was most recently the Chief of Police in La Porte, was hired in January to fill the position formerly held by Allwin Barrow, who retired in November.  Parker said he has a lot of respect for the Brenham Police Department, and is looking forward to working alongside the men and women in the department.

New Assistant City Manager of Public Services and Utilities Donald Reese (center, left) formally introduced himself to the Brenham community Thursday at a meet-and-greet at Blue Bell Creameries.

Parker’s official start date with the city is on Monday.

Reese, who officially began his work with the city January 13th, comes to Brenham from the City of Victoria, most recently serving there as the Director of Public Works.  Reese said, while he’s still learning the ins and outs of Brenham and putting names to faces, the city has treated him very well thus far.

Reese was hired for the position formerly held by Lowell Ogle, who retired from the city in October to take a new position with the Lower Colorado River Authority.
