BRENHAM CSI TEAMS PREPARING TO COMPETE IN CENTRAL TEXAS FIRST LEGO LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
Members of Brenham ISD’s Challenging Scientific Investigations (CSI) initiative will be in Austin tomorrow (Saturday) to compete against Central Texas-area schools in a LEGO tournament.
After three of four Brenham ISD CSI teams advanced at the Central Texas FIRST LEGO League Qualifier event held in January in Bryan, those teams will be among 60 competing at the FIRST LEGO League Championship at Westwood High School.
Each year, sixth grade students compete in FIRST LEGO League, with this year’s theme being “City Shaper”. Teams are judged in four different areas in the competition: Core Values, Project, Robot Design, and Robot Game. These teams are led by CSI teachers Jennifer Ebel and Kristi Felder.
Brenham CSI is a Brenham ISD gifted and talented initiative that provides an opportunity for second through sixth graders to explore science and technology as they read, write, solve problems, conduct experiments, and apply science to their daily lives.
The top two teams from tomorrow’s tournament will move on to the FIRST Championship World Festival in Houston April 15th to the 18th, to compete against teams from around the world.
