NO NEW CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASES IN WASHINGTON CO. SINCE WEDNESDAY; TWO REMAIN HOSPITALIZED

Washington County has not seen any new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in several days.

After reporting its 17th case Wednesday in a woman in her 20s, the county has not reported any cases since then.  According to the website of the Washington County Office of Emergency Management, there were still 17 confirmed cases as of 8 a.m. this (Saturday) morning.  Two patients remain hospitalized.

Friday, the county reported its first COVID-19 death in a man in his 80s.  The man, who county officials said had multiple underlying medical conditions, was a resident of Washington County.

Residents with questions or concerns can call Faith Mission’s toll-free COVID-19 helpline at 1-800-845-8035.

  1. If they let us know the community name where the people are with positive COVID, It would help others to be more cautious and take preventive measures.

  2. Do the actual numbers really matter ? We know it is in the community and that it is safe ans smart to just stay home and go out only to buy groceries or pick up meds if you have to. And I can’t stress enough that all people who are infected or Think they are …PLEASE STAY HOME!!!!!

  3. A confirmed case is not the same as someone who is diagnosed at a clinic. I am sure the diagnosed case will make the confirmed list in time. The process is transparent but on different time schedules. Two days ago, Houston news stated that our county only had 9 confirmed cases; this inaccurate news does not change the actual count. Calm down folks. I would like to thank our local government and health care workers for all that you are doing.

  4. Maybe you should all also take into consideration while there are 17 CONFIRMED cases, there are still some out there that could just be presumed positive just by simple exposure and symptoms and other cases who are positive but so no symptoms. At this point you should all be assuming that everyone has it and could probably be spreading it without knowing. If you protect yourself you are protecting others. Insults do nothing. Threats do nothing, Demanding information that the media clearly does not have does nothing.

I believe there are no CONFIRMED cases but I also believe there are cases the media doesn’t know about and probably won’t. SO stop with all the complaining and pick a struggle people.

  5. Unbelievable! So y’all just believe the media when it reports there are cases, but not not believe the media when they report none!!??

    1. People believe what they want to, I believe this has been blown waaaaaay out of proportion!! I will miss the freedoms we are giving up so easily. Hope this comment doesn’t get left off.

  6. C’mon guys ! Have some faith in the community leaders doing the best they can to inform the public.

  7. It sounds like we aren’t getting the truth. Why is this county government like it is? I am nor originally from here and have never felt this way about local leaders before.

  8. Why are we being kept in the dark? I know there are more than we are being told about. I know that there was a new one yesterday, so when will they be included in the count? Please tell us the truth about this. It’s very important that we (the public) are kept informed & not lied to. This is very disturbing.

    1. My guess is that we’re not being lied to, rather it takes a few days for the positive tests to go to the county, who sends it to the state health authority, who confirms the positive test then who then reports back to the county. That info then has to be sent to the media. And if anything gets reported back after five on Friday or on the weekend you probably won’t read about it here until Monday at the earliest. So it seems that there is a lag of a few days or so from the positive test that someone learns of or hears about in the community to the time it’s posted here.

  9. To add to Jake’s query, are the confirmed cases confirmed only by tests, or verified by blood tests after initially testing positive. If so, who does the additional testing. And from whom were the tests purchased\given to the county? It’s been reported that many of the tests are inaccurate much of the time. It seems odd that Brazos & Washington Counties only deaths are nursing home patients or in hospice care. Do you know if autopsies are being done to verify COVID 19 was the cause of death and if so, by whom? The public deserves TRANSPARENCY & HONESTY from it’s servants.

    1. Require Transparency, I totally agree. If autopsies are not done to confirm, why say deaths are from CORONA VIRUS.

    2. Honestly, as a healthcare worker, you don’t need a test or even an autopsy to see if the cause of death is covid. There are several indicators that are seen to confirm positives even without a test. I have seen many positives and they have all the same indication.

      1. It’s true you may not need, nor be advised to have a test. The family living in the home of a positive-tested patient all came down with same symptoms, but were advised a test was not needed to confirm. It is assumed they are positive. I’m not clear if people who are not tested or seen face-to-face, but show symptoms and are presumed positive (which I understand is standard practice and preserves tests for questionable cases), are counted in the number reported. Do physicians who direct assumed positive-patients to not be tested report/document them as positive to officials? Further, if a patient assumes for themself they are positive based on close/living proximity to a positive patient and subsequently developing symptoms – but don’t consult a physician (or don’t have one) – those would obviously not be documented either. Regardless, there are certainly more than 17 cases…and the reported number will always be lower than the actual number of positive residents because of scenarios as mentioned above.

  10. This isn’t correct. It scares me that we are being told this. My family member tested positive after Wednesday. Please tell me that we aren’t being lied to to down play this.

    1. Prayers sent your way for your family member, may it be a speedy recovery…stay safe.there is a website you can google for the counties of texas and it will show the case amounts for each county.they do seem to lag a few days with there updates though

  11. Is there any way to get information on how many tests have been conducted or tests per day? That would put the case reports in a better context.

    1. I have a feeling that very few people have been tested.
Making it impossible to really know how many have it.
