BRAZOS VALLEY FOOD BANK LAUNCHES FOOD ASSISTANCE HOTLINE

The Brazos Valley Food Bank has announced it is launching a food assistance hotline to further its efforts to help those in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Early last month, the food bank partnered with Crowdsource Rescue, the Brazos Church Pantry, and The Bridge to home-deliver food to those who should avoid public places during this time, including seniors and individuals with chronic medical conditions.  However, according to a press release, ticket sign-up online for the home-delivered food boxes was lower than expected.

The hotline was established to ensure that the food bank is reaching all the seniors and high-risk individuals throughout the Brazos Valley who might need this service.

All callers will be screened for need and connected with appropriate food-related services, from food pantries, mobile food pantries, Fresh Food Drops, or nutrition programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Women, Infants and Children (WIC).

The hotline covers residents of Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Robertson and Washington Counties, and can be reached at 936-978-0823 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
