TORNADO WATCH IN EFFECT FOR FAYETTE, LEE COUNTIES UNTIL 5 P.M.
A tornado watch has been issued for a large portion of central Texas, including Fayette and Lee Counties, until 5 p.m. this (Tuesday) afternoon.
Shortly before 11:30 a.m., a tornadic storm was spotted near Paige, roughly 10 miles west of Giddings, moving northeast at 20 miles per hour. A storm was also located near Lexington just before 11:30 a.m., moving north at 25 miles per hour.
A tornado warning was previously in effect for north central Lee County, but expired at 11:45 a.m. While the National Weather Service says that tornado threat has diminished, large hail and damaging winds remain likely.
A tornado watch indicates favorable conditions for severe weather and the potential for tornadoes.
