KRUSE VILLAGE REPORTING MORE COVID-19 CASES

Additional cases of COVID-19 are being reported at Kruse Village in Brenham.

In a release late Thursday, Kruse Village Executive Director Coy Fontenot said continued COVID-19 testing this week has revealed a positive diagnosis in five more residents and two more staff members.  As of Thursday, a total of 18 residents and 10 staff members have tested positive for the virus.

Fontenot said the senior living facility’s priority continues to be its affected residents and staff, their recovery, and ongoing infection control measures like regular screening, appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and restricting non-essential visitors.

Fontenot said the facility has prepared for staff members to take time off to recover from the virus.  He said detailed staffing contingency plans are in place, if necessary, to sustain care for residents.

Fontenot thanked staff members for the work they have done throughout the pandemic, saying they have “selflessly taken on additional responsibilities and offered empathetic support to assure quality care for our residents”.  He said residents and families have also offered “overwhelming encouragement”.

Full press release from Kruse Village below:

Kruse Village is committed to the health, safety, and wellness of our care community members. We strive to provide the very best in care to our residents and their families.

Kruse Village’s clinical staff continues to conduct periodic COVID-19 testing for residents and staff as recommended by state and federal guidelines. Through this testing, we have identified an additional five (5) residents and two (2) staff members with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. As of Thursday, July 16, a total of 18 residents and 10 staff members have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Our focus continues to be on our affected residents and staff, their recovery, as well as ongoing infection control measures, such as regular screening, appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and restricting non-essential visitors.

While we are saddened to see members of our team be diagnosed with the virus, we are prepared for them to take the time off they need to recuperate. We have detailed staffing contingency plans in place, if necessary, to sustain dignified and safe care for our residents.

“I am proud of the way our team has risen to the challenges during this uncertain time. Throughout this pandemic, staff members have selflessly taken on additional responsibilities and offered empathetic support to assure quality care for our residents. The overwhelming encouragement we have received from our residents and families, and their willingness to participate in our preventative measures, has been remarkable—we are truly all in this together,” said Coy Fontenot, Executive Director at Kruse Village.

While we strive for transparency in everything we do, please know that we are bound by federal guidelines under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) as well as employment policies, which protect the privacy of our residents and team members. Thank you for your support and understanding.

  1. Time to get Lois Kolkhorst involved before this gets like BNRC. Come on folks, wake up.

    1. I know of nothing Lois Kolkhurst could do that ihas not already Ben done at Kruse. I am a resident here and I know the best safety procedures are being followed. Even so, the virus is hard to keep out. So, Brnhamite, what do you think she could do?

    2. The people that she is pushing to “decide when to wear masks” and not follow the mask mandate could be the ones that potentially spread this virus at facilities like this and businesses. Unfortunately I feel like everyone is on their own at this point and the result of that has been devastating. Until they know people that have gone through it, they will continue to undermine the virus and will not understand. All we can do is follow the guidelines that have been given to protect ourselves and our loved ones. We can no longer put trust and faith in others. Just be smart and don’t let your guard down.
