MADISON COUNTY MAN CHARGED IN DEATH OF 8-WEEK OLD CHILD

A Madison County man has been charged in the February death of an eight-week old baby.
46-year old Johnny Ray Gafford has been charged with first-degree murder in the February 8th death of an eight-week old baby.
The Madison County Sheriff’s office says Gafford allegedly used methamphetamine for several days in front of the infant, who was found unresponsive at a Midway residence. The medical examiner says methamphetamine was found in the infant's system.
Officials say the baby’s mother was not at the residence and is not a suspect.
The case will be handed over to the Madison County District Attorney’s Office.
