ROAD RECONSTRUCTION IN DOWNTOWN BRENHAM CONTINUES MONDAY ON NORTH PARK, NORTH BAYLOR STREETS

Road reconstruction in downtown Brenham continues today (Monday), but crews will shift their focus to a new area.

Starting today and running through September 11th, workers will tackle North Park Street from North Austin Parkway to Vulcan Street and North Baylor Street from Academy Street to Main Street.  All schedules continue to be subject to weather.

This comes after work was done earlier this month on North Park and North Douglas Streets from Vulcan Street to Main Street and Vulcan Street from Market Street to Austin Street.

The road reconstruction project follows last year’s downtown waterline replacement project, and involves tilling up the current roadway, grading and stabilizing the sub-base with cement, and adding new asphalt.

During the time of construction and during the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., these sections of roadway will be limited to vehicular traffic throughout the work zones.  City staff will work with residents and businesses to gain access to homes and places of work throughout this process.

The city cautions that there will be dusty conditions at times, especially as cement is added to the roadway.  Citizens are asked to park their cars in parking lots, driveways, or off the roadways between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and to not park in the spaces along the roads being rebuilt.  If citizens have sprinkler systems, they are asked to either turn them off or make sure that the water does not enter the roadway.
