BLINN BOARD TO REVIEW GROUND LEASE AGREEMENT FOR NEW BRENHAM CAMPUS STUDENT HOUSING

The Blinn Board of Trustees will potentially move forward with a new student housing project on the Brenham Campus at its meeting this (Tuesday) evening.

The board will consider allowing Blinn administrators to negotiate a ground lease cooperation agreement with NCCD-Brenham Properties, LLC for the finance, design, construction, and operation of additional student housing.

In January, trustees received a proposal for an additional P3 student housing project to meet student housing needs on the Brenham Campus.  The College has been working with NCCD-Brenham Properties, Servitas Collegiate Real Estate Services, LLC, and other stakeholders to create a plan to finance, design, and build the privatized student housing project.

The proposed dormitory complex, to be located at 911 and 811 West Fifth Street, will hold 262 sleeping rooms with a maximum of 504 residents.

College officials say the plans for the project are now in the final stages.  Administrators are recommending the College move forward with the project, which is slated to open in the fall of 2022.

Also at today’s meeting, the board will consider a contract for architectural services related to upgrades to Leroy Dreyer Field on the Brenham Campus.  After seeking qualifications in June, the College received seven proposals in August for architectural services related to the planning, design, and construction of the upgrades.  College administrators currently recommend the board move forward with a contract for PlanNorth Architectural Company for the project, which has an overall budget of $2.5 million.

The board will meet this evening at 5:30 p.m.  Public access to the meeting will be limited to Rooms 2 and 3 of the Brenham Campus Student Center.  The public can also watch a livestream of the meeting on Blinn’s YouTube channel.
