After announcing entertainment through December of 2021, the Barnhill Center will begin selling tickets at 10 a.m. this morning for this year’s performances: the first edition of the Darden Smith Singer/Songwriter Series featuring Ray Benson on Saturday, November 14th; The Music of John Denver by Jim Curry on Friday, November 27th; and the Gary Morris Christmas Show on Saturday, December 12th.

The Singer/Songwriter Series will feature stories and insights from Smith, a Brenham native and Austin-based singer, songwriter, artist and educator.  Benson, the first guest for the series, is the founder and 50-year leader of the Western Swing band Asleep at the Wheel.  He has released 28 albums and 21 hit songs on Billboard’s Country Charts, won ten Grammy Awards, and received multiple Hall of Fame inductions.  He has also been the producer of recordings by Willie Nelson, Dale Watson, and Merle Haggard.

Curry is considered a top John Denver tribute with numerous sellout shows across the United States and Canada, frequently in Las Vegas.  He sang Denver’s songs for the 2000 CBS movie, “Take Me Home, the John Denver Story.”

Morris has released 13 albums, including five #1 hits and 16 Top 10 singles.  He was named Billboard Magazine’s 1982 New Male Artist of the Year, and won CMA Song of the Year and ACM Single of the Year for “Wind Beneath My Wings.”  He performs concerts to raise funding for veterans who are wounded or suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Tickets for next year’s lineup, which can be seen below, will go on sale at a later date.
