ROUND TOP WOMAN KILLED IN WASHINGTON CO. CRASH

  

A Round Top woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident Thursday evening near the Washington-Burleson County line.

DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz reports that the crash happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. at FM 50 and Devault Lane, north of Independence. 

According to Sgt. Ruiz, a 2009 Nissan Altima was traveling southbound on FM 50 when it crossed into the northbound lane and struck a 2023 Ford Expedition head-on.

The driver of the Nissan, 73-year-old Patricia Tidwell, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford was transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in College Station with injuries that are believed to be minor. 

The crash remains under investigation.
