ROADWORK COMPLETE ON INDUSTRIAL BOULEVARD, NEARING COMPLETION ON BURLESON STREET

Road crews are finalizing repairs on a pair of roadways in Brenham.

According to Public Works Director Dane Rau, work has wrapped up on Industrial Boulevard between Longwood Drive and FM 332, and the city opened the roadway this (Wednesday) morning.

The section of roadway was closed in April to relocate and widen the creek crossing while replacing the old culverts and guardrail.  The project was contracted to Barclays Premier Utility Services for $321,885.

Meanwhile, work is nearly done at Burleson Street between FM 577 and Benton Drive, and Rau expects to reopen the portion of road by next Friday, October 16th.

Rau said the project to add a new bridge structure and roadway at the Little Sandy Creek crossing was completed last month after starting in January.  However, due to a utility extension project on the same section of roadway, the road was left closed for safety reasons.  The creek crossing project is contracted to Angel Brothers Enterprises for $1.07 million.

Rau thanked residents for their patience with the projects, and said the city is glad to open the roads back up for more convenient travel.
