BATTLE OF THE BARTENDERS: ROUND II SATURDAY IN DOWNTOWN BRENHAM

Bartenders and mixologists will meet tomorrow (Saturday) in downtown Brenham to see who makes the best drinks around.

“Battle of the Bartenders: Round II” will bring teams with at least one TABC licensed bartender to South St. Charles Street and Commerce Street, where they will be judged on their Bloody Marys, margaritas, and a cocktail of their choice.

Shannan Canales, co-owner of Las Americas Latin Cuisine and one of the organizers for the event, says the idea for it came as a way to let local bartenders showcase their skills.

Set-up will take place from 9 a.m. to noon, and the tent will open for Happy Hour at 2:30 p.m.  Winners will be announced at 6 p.m.

A panel of judges will decide whose drinks are best, but the crowd will also have a say in the hospitality vote.

A total of $1,350 in cash prizes will be offered, including $500 and a heavyweight championship belt for the overall winner.

In addition to different varieties of drinks, guests can look forward to live music from the Anthony Moreno Band, along with vendors and food trucks.

Entry fee per team is $50.  Teams will need to provide their own alcohol and mixers.  Public entry is $25, which includes drink samples.  Masks will be required when not sampling drinks.

KWHI and KTEX-106 are both sponsors of the event.
