CITY OF BRENHAM SPLASH PAD REOPENS THURSDAY; RIBBON CUTTING PLANNED FOR APRIL 15TH

The City of Brenham splash pad at Henderson Park reopens to the public today (Thursday).

The splash pad is open seasonally from April 1-September 30 and is free to the public.  The splash pad first opened last June.

Due to the Brazos River Authority’s (BRA) Stage 1 drought watch, the splash pad will have reduced hours of 2 to 7 p.m. for the month of April.

In recent months, funding from the Brenham Community Development Corporation (BCDC) was used to build and install several splash pad improvements, including sidewalks for connectivity, a single-family restroom, additional seating, and a bike rack.  A shade structure was also built using a grant from the H-E-B Tournament of Champions Charitable Trust.

Public Works Director Dane Rau said the city is excited to open the splash pad for its second season, and is grateful for the city’s partnerships with the BCDC and H-E-B to make the new improvements a reality.

An official ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the splash pad on Thursday, April 15th at 3 p.m.

  1. I am loving the new look of Henderson Park, It’s live again with plenty to do. Thanks, we look forward to the Ribbon Cutting!
Kudos to the Parks Board on the new look of the Jerry Wilson Park as well. It has been very active since then.

  2. If the city was a smart they would recycle the water back thru again and again. Guess that would cost to much but this way will cost more Think about it

  3. Again, I will ask the question for those that know. How much water does this facility use in the 5-minute timed cycle?
It would be certainly cheaper for the City of Brenham to supply this one piece of information then for them to have to photocopy hundreds of pages of documents if I file a public information request and not want the copies for my own personal use but only to “inspect” them. Any resident of Brenham, has the right to request documents through the PIR process, and the City must comply (unless it is dealing with personnel or legal actions).
