MASKS IN BELLVILLE ISD ‘STRONGLY ENCOURAGED BUT NOT MANDATORY’ STARTING MONDAY

Starting Monday, Bellville ISD will relax its facemask requirements.

A notice posted last week by the school district said on April 12th, masks on Bellville ISD campuses will become “strongly encouraged but not mandatory.”

The district said teachers may strongly encourage students to continue to wear masks in classrooms based on the nature of instructional activities and distancing limitations.  Students on buses are still encouraged to wear masks.

In addition, participants in extracurricular and co-curricular activities may be required to wear masks in order to avoid having to miss competitions due to quarantining requirements.  The district said contact tracing and quarantine requirements will remain in place.

The district still encourages students to wear masks to ensure they remain eligible to learn onsite, complete their competition seasons, take their EOC and AP exams, attend field trips, and walk at graduation.

The district said it also reserves the authority to reinstitute masking requirements if local health data warrants it.
