  1. Washington County Roads are not capable of handling speeds in excess of about 40mph. They old dirt roads that became gravel roads that became paved. There is no engineering involved. They are full of blind hills, sharpe turns, close vegetation, etc. The commissioner’s court is reasonable for the safety and welfare of citizens. They can and should declare all roads to be 40/45 mph limits. But in order to get the limit lowered one must take their time to get signatures from the property owners. This is inappropriate. They need to do their job. I have asked this be done and nothing happens. I promise the Sheriff Department supports it.

  2. Yall everyone hear me clear drive right and don’t speed at all. For the people that speed and disrespect our Law Enforcement Rules yall will be aware that dont be surprised when yall loose your rights to drive. Be very respectful people to the Highways and Law Enforcement Rules of Brenham.

    1. I don’t know of anyone who has lost their rights to drive for speeding in this county. I also know of few people that have been denied their right to drive even after the third and fourth DUI they have been convicted of. Even those that may have gone before a medical advisory board for driving issues have not had them revoked.

  3. Sorry but nobody enforces the limits we have now. Drive around the outer 290 / 36 area at posted speeds & be prepared to about get run over much less trying to enter / exit the roadway! some have to be 10-15 over, Trying to stop at the short 5sec at best yellow light at 36-577 is dang near impossible at posted 60mph in a car much less speeding & on phones, forget stopping a big truck loaded. 36 north by oakhill has been like this for yrs before you can enter roadway from the stop sign, the gas stations or Geers / fritz rd someone will be up your back bumper.
