NEW TANKER TRUCK FOR MEYERSVILLE VFD

The Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department has purchased a new tanker truck.
The tanker arrived at the Meyersville Volunteer Fire Station Tuesday morning, eight years after the department applied with the Texas Forest Service for a grant for the tanker. The department found out in October that it had been awarded a grant for $220,000.
On Tuesday, Washington County Commissioners contributed $30,000 toward the purchase of the tanker, valued at $276,000.
Meyersville Fire Chief Alan Winkelmann told Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday that with this purchase, the department will be able to retire a 29-year-old tanker that has “reached the end of its life.”
Winkelmann said through mutual aid agreements, the tanker “will not only be a benefit to the folks in our district, but to the entire county.”
