WEEKEND CHASE OUT OF BURTON ENDS WITH ARREST NEAR AUSTIN

  

A Cypress woman is in custody after a weekend chase that began in Washington County and ended near Austin.

Around 3 p.m. Sunday, a DPS Trooper attempted to stop a black 2018 Jeep that was reported stolen on Highway 290 in Burton.

According to DPS, the driver sped away from the traffic stop and fled westbound on Highway 290, crossing multiple counties.

DPS Troopers spiked the vehicle in Bastrop, but it continued fleeing, eventually striking a vehicle in McDade.  The vehicle finally stopped in Elgin.

The driver, 27-year-old Marissa Moore, was booked into the Bastrop County Jail for Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, Hit and Run and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.

A passenger in the vehicle was not charged.

Assisting agencies in the pursuit included the Brenham Police Department, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Elgin Police Department.
