The owners of Independence Coffee Company in Brenham are in the running for a prestigious business award.

Christi and Ragan Bond have been named finalists for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Gulf Coast Area.

The award program, now in its 35^th year, honors entrepreneurs and leaders of high-growth companies who show ambition, ingenuity and courage in the face of adversity.

Award nominees are evaluated based on six criteria: entrepreneurial leadership; talent management; degree of difficulty; financial performance; societal impact and building a values-based company; and originality, innovation and future plans.

Award winners will be announced during a virtual celebration on August 4^th.

Regional award winners are eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur of the Year National Awards, which will be announced in November.
