TRUCK THEFTS IN BRENHAM, WASHINGTON CO. UNDER INVESTIGATION
Brenham and Washington County authorities are currently investigating reports of several stolen trucks.
According to Brenham Police Sergeant Jason Derrick, there were at least two trucks reported stolen from within city limits midday on Monday, as well as one in the county.
Sgt. Derrick said each vehicle that was stolen was an early to mid-2000 Dodge with a 5.9L diesel engine, and they were all stolen within the same day. He said these were the first string of auto thefts in the area targeting this specific type of make and model, and multiple thefts occurred.
Sgt. Derrick said the police department is working leads in its cases alongside the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
Police remind residents to never leave valuables inside their vehicle and to always be alert when parking. They also suggest installing a hardwire GPS tracker, vehicle immobilizer system and audible alert system to prevent auto theft.
If their vehicle is stolen, residents should call police or local dispatch immediately, and keep records of their vehicle handy, such as on their cell phone.
